Recognized religious group is a status than religious groups can obtain within a country. It is obtain through court were a group proves that they are a religion. Recognized religious groups can receive, depending on a country, tax exemptions, ability to oparate, property, acses to state media, direct money, ability to get time off during their own holidays, state-funded religion lessons in schools, military exemptions for members or ability for religious leaders to enter hospitals or military. In recent years a few countries added a "no harm" rule that only grants that status to groups that don't promote cutting off non-believing family and friends and don't promote practices that can cause risk to someones life or health. This took away the status from some groups. Unrecognized groups can operate, they just don't receive those benefits. An example of that is Lithuania taking away most of the privileges from Jehovas Witnesses and threatening to take away their status.
